Too small

Although I don't need maternity clothes yet, I have had to pack away some things that got too tight. First to get packed up where underthings like bras, bridal lingerie, etc because my, um, upper body was the first area to grow. Then there are some shirts that are normally too small for me that had to get put away almost instantly. I never even got to wear my capris this summer cuz they are too tight.

Free stuff

I am on a local freecycle group and I love it. It's great that people can give stuff away to someone else who will need it. I see stuff like treadmills, baby clothes, and bikes all the time. I have used it lately to give away the extra compost we have (the lady is coming to pick it up today) and our old gas range when we got the new one. I was also able to find some used wood for my garden boxes. It really is neat. Of course there are always people on there that are just greedy, asking for laptops and cars and stuff. And they get really specific about how good it needs to be. They must not understand that freecycle isn't about getting everything you want for free, but about recycling things that someone no longer needs. I only ever ask for things that I can imagine people would have laying around they don't use, like the old wood I got. And I try to offer more than I ask for. It feels good to give things to someone who can use them after I no longer need them.

Almost his birthday

So Jakey's birthday is tomorrow. Since we already had a party for him last weekend we aren't having another on his birthday. We are just going to have some cake and ice cream to celebrate as a family. We didn't get him any more presents. Mostly because he doesn't really need anything and I am horrible at getting gifts for anyone lol. I usually end up giving gift baskets of bath stuff or some other generic gift with no meaning lol. Hubby is much better in the gifting department. Anyway, Jakey won't care if he gets more gifts on his actual birthday and the cake and ice cream is mostly for me cuz I like any excuse to have cake and ice cream lol.

Beautiful Saturday

Today is such a nice day! Warm and sunny. The boys are sitting here "playing" Mario Kart (aka spinning in circles until time runs out lol). They are having lots of fun. Jakey needs to go down for a nap soon. Once they are finished with this race I'll get him to bed. Then I need to do some cleaning. Later when Jakey wakes up I'll probably let the boys play in the sprinkler outside. I love when it's a nice day and we don't have to do anything. We already got our shopping for next weeks groceries done and no other plans today. Oh yay, Hubby just got back with the final things I need for the garden- seed potatoes and peas. I think I'll go get those in once I get Jakey down for his nap.

Checkup

Yesterday Jakey had his 2 year checkup. We went to my old family doc but I don't think he recognized me (it has been a long time). Everything looked good, Jakey's right on track developmentally. He weighs about 24 lbs, still a little shrimp like Jason :D 34.5" tall so at least he's average height-wise. He had to get 2 shots, poor little guy. I hate when they are old enough to understand what's happening when they get shots. All day he kept telling us "owie, pokes, my legs" and trying to show us his legs. At least that's over with.

Normal clothes still

I'm kind of surprised that I'm not bigger than I already am with this baby. I don't even really need maternity clothes yet. I wear maternity shirts, but that's just because I don't have many regular shirts to begin with, not that I really need them. And I definitely don't need maternity pants yet. I'm still wearing my normal pants, though I have to use the rubber band trick on one of them. I thought I should be bigger by now, but I just looked at pics from when I was pregnant with Jakey and I guess I do look about the same as I did at this point with him, and should expect to pop out a bit more in the next few weeks.

Splitting headache

Oh man, I have the worst headache! I've had it all day and it just got worse when I had the scouts here today. Now Jakey is being so whiney, and it is making me want to cry. Hubby is putting him to bed early cuz he didn't nap much today and is tired (and probably not feeling well from shots at his appointment today). I'll probably try to get to bed early too. I think I'll take a nice hot bath then have some Tylenol PM and hope to sleep good.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for the fact that I don't have six 11-year old boys. I recently got called to our church scouts group, the Webelos group. And I only have to be with them 1 hour a week but they wear me out! They are loud and don't listen and give me a headache. They are fun, but I am very thankful I don't have to be with them 24/7 lol.

I am also thankful that we got Jason's teeth taken care of. We are definitely going to be better about brushing and flossing to keep him from getting all those cavities again.

What are you thankful for?

Love the Wii

Have I said yet how much I love our Wii? It is so fun! We are really enjoying playing Mario Kart. And my little sister let me borrow Zelda and that is fun too. I like watching Hubby play Mario Galaxy, but I haven't tried it yet. I love that we can play it as a family. The boys can't really play but they like to try Mario Kart and they like to watch. And when we have family over and they bring a couple extra remotes then it's even more fun. This is one game system I'm glad we splurged and got.

Take a message

Every time I am on the phone and need to take a message I can not find a pen that works. I find tons when cleaning up but then when I need one they disappear. I buy the packs of 20 pens at the store, we always get random promotional pens from companies, and I know I sometimes accidentally take a pen that I use to fill out forms at doctor offices and such, but they are never there when needed. I usually end up finding a broken piece of crayon or I quickly open Word on the computer to type the message up.

New addition

So I guess I keep forgetting to mention that my little sister moved in here on Monday. She is 19 and great. She just finished getting her associates degree and cosmetology degree. Not sure how long she'll be living with us but it's nice having her around. I have someone else to talk to and she's helpful with the kids. Plus we can get free haircuts lol.

Back from the dentist

Today we had to take Jason to the dentist to get some cavities taken care of. Because of his age they had to put him under to do it. I was pretty nervous about it and he was a little scared to go. He did not want them to put the mask on his face even though they made it smell like root beer for him, but once he got a whiff of the laughing gas he started cracking up and laughed until he went to sleep. Jakey and I waited in the waiting room for about an hour and a half. It only took about 45 minutes for them to do the work (he actually had a few more cavities they found on the xrays) and then we just waited for him to wake up. He is normally a very deep sleeper so with the anesthesia he was an even deeper sleeper and did not want to wake up easily lol. We finally got him to wake up and he looked around so confused. We finally got to leave once he was awake and coherent. I had promised him that we would get him some root beer, but I decided I was just going to head home. Well, even though he was still pretty groggy and wouldn't answer anything I asked him, when I said we were going home he said "But you said we would get root beer at McDonalds!" and started crying. So of course we stopped (at Wendys) and got him some root beer and us some stuff to eat since it was past lunch time. He tried to eat some chicken nuggets and french fries even though I warned him it might hurt, and of course it did, and I don't have any Children's Tylenol and he can't have any more Ibuprofen until 6pm. Now he is pretty grumpy, hopefully he'll take a little nap so he can feel a bit better. I need to get Jakey to nap too and maybe I'll lay down for a bit cuz my head hurts.

Finally planted my garden!

So, I finally got the garden planted today! About time! I still need to get some seed potatoes and hopefully find some already started pea plants since it's too late to do seeds right now, but other than that I'm done! My little sister who just moved in with us helped me and the boys. The boys had a ton of fun helping with the flowers. You can read more about it and see a few pics on my garden blog.

Tuesday To-Do

I just have a few things on my to-do list today:

* Plant garden (finally!)

* Vacuum

* Wash and fold a few loads of laundry

* Go to store

I am waiting for it to get a little bit warmer in an hour or so then we'll go out and plant veggies and flowers! I'm excited! I hope that the veggies will actually grow well. I know it's late for some of the stuff I'm planting so I don't know how well stuff like lettuce and spinach will do, but hopefully the tomato plants and corn will grow cuz that is what I want the most :) I still need to pick up some seed potatoes and pea plants if I can find them, but I have seeds or plants for everything else I'm planning. We picked up a bunch of 6-packs of flowers yesterday and I'm going to let the boys help me with those, they are also very excited. I think once that's done I will get their sand box filled with sand so they leave the garden alone.

Long Weekend

Man, I have had such a busy weekend! My inlaws have been here since Friday and go home tomorrow. On Saturday we had Jakey's birthday party (his birthday is June 1, but we had it this weekend since the inlaws would be down). It was lots of fun, and I will try to post some pics another day. Then after the party Hubby went and got a load of compost for me for the garden and we spent a few hours shoveling that. There was way more than we needed so we got the garden full, the compost bin full, and then piled the rest in the kiddie pool until it's overflowing. Now I am so sore and tired, that's a lot of work for a pregnant woman who's used to just sitting on the couch most of the day lol. I haven't been feeling well today from being sore and tired and then pg sick, I even tried to nap, but wasn't successful. I'm heading to bed now. Tomorrow we will get the garden planted finally and my family is having a bbq some time so we will go to that. Hopefully I sleep well tonight so I have some energy to do that.

Indiana Jones Review

So last night we got to see the new Indiana Jones movie- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I was very excited because I loved the old ones and was interested in seeing how Shia LeBouf would do in this show. So here's my quick review of it without giving out any spoilers.

I must admit I was slightly disappointed in the beginning when you can tell that Harrison Ford is getting pretty old, he just didn't seem like the same Indy he used to be. Luckily I wasn't disappointed for too long as he fell back into the role. Shia LeBouf's role as "Mud" Williams was fun, and he had you thinking he was some arrogant idiot until you could see him in action with the bad guys. Speaking of bad guys, Cate Blanchett pulled off a great Ukrainian accent as the Soviet Dr. Irina Spalko. And you really wanted her to die lol.

Of course there were plenty of cheesy lines, "knew that was gonna happen" spots, disgusting deaths, and many "yeah, right, like anyone could live through that" times. But, I guess there are plenty of those in the original movies too lol. The plot was a bit more far-fetched than I thought it would be, even though I'd already read speculation about aliens being part of the plot. I mean, who would think to mix aliens and Indiana Jones? Guess I forgot it's directed by George Lucas lol.

Overall, I would rate it probably 4 out of 5. It was fun and had lots of action and excitement. Not my very favorite of the Indiana Jones movies, but definitely one I want to buy when it comes out.

Win a Dyson

I would love to have a new vacuum. We've had ours since we got married almost 5 years ago. It has done well but it is starting to not work as well. A lot of this is due to the fact that the container is cracked and the filters need replaced, but I would still just prefer a brand new vacuum. And not just any vacuum- I really want a Dyson. That is why I would love to win the Dyson DC25 contest from Kristin at An Ordinary Life.

Indiana Jones!

We're heading out to go see Indiana Jones! I'm so excited! I love Indiana Jones (Hubby actually got me the boxed set the first Christmas we were married) and Harrison Ford, and Shia LeBouf. Hubby's work rented out a theatre for all the employees and spouses/girlfriends/etc to go see it tonight. Aren't they the best employer?! We had an extra ticket so we are taking my brother Ben because today is his birthday. My little sister Jill is here to watch the boys. Anyway, off I go!

Late

One of the things I hate most in life (besides talking on the phone) is being late or rushed. I just hate it. Unfortunately Hubby comes from Idaho where everyone is always late and they just don't care. He doesn't seem to understand that it seriously stresses me out. I'm sitting here heart pounding and seething angrily because I had an Enrichment meeting at 6:30 that I am now over 20mins late for because I'm watching the kids while he's on the roof replacing the pads in our swamp cooler. Grr. He's about done now so I'm going to get my shoes on and head out hopefully soon. Good thing the church is right next door.

Cooling down

Well, after the last 3 days of heat and sunshine we have entered a cold spell. Until next Monday it's supposed to be cool and rainy (it better be clear a few hours for Jakey's bday party on Saturday! I'm still annoyed that Hubby had me change it from next weekend when it's supposed to be sunny and warm again, grr). The boys are sad that they can't go out and play. I did let them get dressed and put on their jackets and play in the rain for a bit this morning, but I don't want them getting sick so they weren't out for long. My strawberry plants are loving all the moisture.

Haha, I started this a while ago and just realized I never finished. :D I need to go do some laundry (why can't it clean itself?!) so I have clothes to wear and get the boys to help clean up the family room. It is mostly their mess after all lol.

The dentist

Today I took Jason for another dentist appointment. He went in February but we found out that dentist wasn't covered by our insurance. So today we saw a new dentist. The office was cute, they had a little room with toys and an N64 for the kids to play. Everyone was very nice and Jason was amazed by the TVs in the ceiling. He was not happy when they laid him back to look at his teeth though. It wasn't as bad as last time where he screamed loudly the whole time, but he did cry while they did the quick exam, and they confirmed that he does indeed have 2 cavities in his front top teeth. They couldn't see any more problems but they will do xrays when we go in to have him put under to get those fixed and see if there are any more.

So next week we go to the surgical center where they do the pediatric dental anesthesia stuff. They will put him under, do xrays, fill cavities and clean his teeth. And hopefully they don't find any other cavities in the xrays cuz this is already going to cost near $300. I hate that pediatric dentists are considered a "specialist" and therefore not covered the same under our insurance. If it were a general dentist it would all be covered, but they don't do the pediatric anesthesia stuff so we had to go to the specialist :P What a pain.

And of course I blame myself for not being good about brushing his teeth and letting him eat too much candy. I'm definitely going to do better. We already had a talk this morning that we shouldn't eat a lot of candy cuz it makes our teeth get little holes and hurt.

As I munched on a bag of Skittles.

Like mother, like son.

Sweet Relief

Today we finally got our evaporative cooler working. Our last house had no a/c and we had to use 2 window units, ceiling fans, and a box fan to try to cool the whole house, so getting a house with any kind of a/c was exciting. The last few days have been in the 90s and without a/c it was getting in the 80s in the house. It was hard to even sleep cuz it was so warm at night. We have never had an evaporative cooler so we had no idea what to do to get it hooked up, but luckily a neighbor was walking by while Hubby was working on it and offered to come help. They quickly got it all working and now we have wonderful cold air blowing through the house. It's great! We need to buy a new pump and pad things for it, and our neighbor will come over again tomorrow to help Hubby with those, but it is working fine for now. Well, except for the power going out a few times, probably because the old yucky pump is working too hard. But by this time tomorrow it will be working perfectly.

My garden blog

So I decided to start a blog specifically for my gardening adventure. I'll be posting what I start with and hopefully get to show as my garden grows and the harvest it produces. So far I am just getting started so there isn't much to look at, but I'm hoping that by the end of summer I can show you a beautifully full green garden and yummy veggies.

You can see it at http://karasgarden.blogspot.com

Feel free to stop by and give me any gardening tips and stuff. I like to hear from people who actually have done this to help me out since I'm a beginning gardener and plants like to die for me.

Registering to vote

So this year will be the first year I vote in a presidential election. I could have when I was 20, but I never got around to registering to vote. Now I am registered to vote, but in Idaho. I have to get re-registered here in Utah, and to do that I have to have a Utah driver's license, which I don't have yet lol. Good thing I'm planning to get my Utah license in the next month or so. Of course that means I have to retake the written test, but it's open book and I know how to drive so that shouldn't be too hard. All so I can register to vote. And no, I won't discuss who I'm voting for or why, cuz I don't like getting in to politics, and because I haven't fully decided yet who I dislike the least.

Monday Madness

So today I am pretty tired. I wasn't able to fall asleep until around 2am last night. Good thing I have nowhere to go today. It's supposed to be nice and hot again today, up to 90* again. I'm trying to make a list of all the stuff I need to finish getting my garden ready so I can hopefully get stuff planted beginning of next week. Most of this week is supposed to be rainy. I'm hoping the rain will hold off for a while on Saturday since we've planned Jakey's birthday party for that day and were going to have an outdoor barbecue. If not then I guess we'll just move the party inside. If it weren't for the rain I'd want to get my garden planted this week. It looks like we'll have showers through Monday, and then Tuesday should be perfect weather for planting. I know it would be nice to have it planted before all the rain, but it's not ready and I still don't even know what I'm planning to plant. If I had everything ready by tomorrow afternoon I could actually plant then, and the rain would be helpful, but I don't think it'll be ready. Today Hubby is picking up some wood (yay freecycle) so I can get the garden bed framed in a little higher so I can add some compost and stuff without worrying about it falling into the neighbors yard, and we can put a finishing side and make a lid for the box I'm going to use for my compost bin. Then I need to go to the store to get the peat moss and compost and stuff, oh and some of the landscaping material to lay down first to keep out the weeds, and get all that in the garden bed. Yeah, so I've still got plenty of work to do before I can plant. I should have gotten started weeks ago, but I kept putting it off. Anyway, instead of wasting time posting I should be deciding what I want to grow :)

Call off the search

Well, after giving the family a huge scare, MIL called tonight to let us know she's been up on campus doing homework this whole time. Woulda been nice for her to let someone know so we all didn't get worried sick. It's almost midnight and I couldn't sleep because I was so worried, so I'm exhausted and need to go to bed now that we know she's ok.

Prayers Please

Can I ask for some prayers? My mother-in-law is missing. Nobody has seen or heard from her since 4pm yesterday and everyone is extremely worried. We are praying nothing has happened to her. A missing person's report has been filed, but there's not much else we can do from here but pray, I feel helpless.

Cindy- If you are out there reading this, please contact someone so we know you are ok. We love you and are worried sick. Love, Kara

Sunday Saying

"The student who secures his coveted leisure and retirement by systematically shirking any labor necessary to man obtains but an ignoble and unprofitable leisure, defrauding himself of the experience which alone can make leisure fruitful."
- Henry David Thoreau, Walden

This is a great quote. What it says to me is that the harder you work for something, the more enjoyment you will get from it. Like how many people say, a person who works hard and saves up to put themselves through college is going to work harder and get more out of it than the person that has it all paid for by parents. My Hubby is a hard worked. When he has a job he gives it his best and does everything he can to do it well. I really respect that about him. I know that many years from now when he retires he can do so knowing that he really earned it and fully enjoy the leisure time that he worked so hard for.

What do you think?

Rush

Last year when we went to Cancun we had to get our passports first of course. We'd been told that sometimes it can take a long time to get your passport so we paid about $60 extra each to have them rushed. I think some of the others who ordered them without the rush still got theirs in plenty of time. But we really didn't mind, I mean we were going on an all-expenses paid trip to Cancun, and it was good to know that we did have them in time instead of worrying if they would make it in time.

But they are still always a mess

For some reason Jakey really loves to wash his hands. Every time I go in the bathroom he runs in and says "Want wash my hands!" He climbs up on the toilet or tub and throws a fit if I don't let him "wash" his hands (aka, splash water all over the mirrors, sinks, and floor). I guess it's a good thing, it's just a tiny bit annoying when I'm just trying to wash my own hands lol. Jason likes to wash his hands too, but not the same "wanna do it!" attitude that Jakey has about it lol.

Is it a guy thing?

Isn't it funny how guy's seem to have an inherent talent for car stuff? Like my dad can drive down the road and tell you the make, model, and year of most cars. Now make and model I can understand, but year?! Really, some guys can just see the tiny difference in a car from one year to the next and recognize the year. It amazes me. I couldn't even tell you what a carburetor does or what a Chevy grille is, but guys just seem to naturally know this stuff. Do they go to some secret guy's only car class as kids? Or is it just a gender thing, like how women know that peach, coral, and salmon are not the same paint color?

Camera Critters

This is a deer that we saw at the zoo last year. It came right up to the fence and the boys loved it. I'm sure she was hoping we had a handful of food, and once she realized that we just wanted pictures she walked away. Isn't she so pretty?

You can join in Camera Critters every Sunday.

The problem with digital

I keep telling myself I need to go through the thousands of digital pics I have and organize them and print some off. I just never get around to it, cuz it just seems too overwhelming. 4 years of digital pics is a lot to go through, especially when they are spread out over 2 computers, 3-4 CDs, and various hard drives. Just finding them all will be a pain. That's got to be at least 10,000 pics I'm thinking. And then deciding what to print is going to be hard, because pics cost money. At least I can always find Kodak Gallery coupons and stuff to get cheap prints online, but if have even 1,000 pics I want printed out that's still going to be around $100. Yikes! Plus photo albums to put them in (no, I don't scrapbook lol) and the work of putting them in writing down what each one is. So, I get thinking about all that work and just give up before starting lol.

Need a massage

I don't know if this is just a Utah thing or what, but we seem to have a lot of commercials for massage therapy schools around here. I actually thought of doing that once, but I have arthritis in my hands and figured that doing lots of work with my hands would make them stiff and sore. Plus I'd rather be the one getting a massage, not the one giving it lol. Boy, a massage sounds nice right now. Haven't had one for 2 years, and that last one was not that good.

Nice night

Tonight we went to a church party. We had to bring a main dish and because I was fresh out of good ideas I pulled an extra lasagna I'd frozen out of the freezer and heated that up. Evidently it was good cuz it seemed to get eaten pretty quickly. We walked to and from the church since it was so nice outside, it was nice to have that little family walk. And there were lots of different foods to try out, which was good for the boys so they could try out some new things. Then they got to run around with the other kids and get nice and worn out before bed time. Jason fell asleep on the floor in the family room shortly after we got home and Jakey was tired but fought it for a while before I got him to lay down and go to sleep. Now I am heading to bed. Have a good night!

Nice and soft

I'm so glad I have a foam mattress topper on my bed. I'm always so exhausted and worn out when I fall into bed, it's so nice to have a soft bed to relax on. I'm really thinking I'm going to try harder to get to bed earlier tonight. Jason's asleep and Jakey's in bed too, I might just go take a nice long bath and head to bed. Yeah, that sounds good.

Something to do with computers

I don't know what's wrong with our desktop computer, but despite it's cable internet connection, it is sooo slow! I'm not sure if it's something to do with the computer memory or RAM or what, but it annoys me! I'm so glad I have this laptop, it is much faster. Actually I don't know the last time we ran a virus scan on the desktop, maybe that's the problem. I guess I could try that out and see if that helps.

Searching

You know what I love about the Internet? That you can find almost anything on there. You can do a search for anything from cattle supplies to gardening tips to recipes. Lately I've used it to try to find old friends. A lot of times I come up with nothing, but occasionally it pays off. I also like searching for things other people can't find, just for fun. I just think it's great the information you can find online.

Garden's almost ready

Today was another gorgeous day in the 80's. We spend the morning outside. Hubby helped me out by finishing up digging and leveling the garden bed. I sat out there reading Square Foot Gardening while the boys played. I'm hoping to get the garden bed all ready next week so the week after I can start planting. Since I've never had a garden before and we normally don't eat many veggies, I'm trying to decide what I really want to start out growing. I don't want to have a bunch of veggies that we won't eat, so I'm going to stick to stuff we actually do eat like tomatoes.

That time of year

Boy, it's nice and hot here today! Well, for us. I'm sure people who live in hotter climates think 80* is great, and it is, but I just can't be outside for long in hot weather lol. But I did take the boys outside for a bit while I did some work in the garden. I raked and shoveled out the thick layer of wood chips that has been driving me nuts, and then started digging in the dirt to loosen it up. I had to stop about 1/4 through digging to come in because I was getting to hot and weak. Hubby says he'll help finish it up later. Then I need to buy some good soil to dig in and maybe in the next week or two I can start planting. Ooh, that reminds me I have a book on hold at the library that I have to pick up today, I better do that when Hubby gets home. It's a gardening book, something about square foot gardening, which I think will be helpful since we have such a small garden area.

Going to the chapel

A few years ago I went to a wedding reception for an old friend's brother. I honestly was not that close to this guy, in fact I don't even know if I even talked to him the whole time, but I wanted to go because I knew my old friend would be there. It was great to see her and her mom, but what we weren't expecting was my Hubby's great-aunt to be there! It turns out that she is my friend's grandma's sister (or sister-in-law? can't remember). It was funny to realize that me and my friend were loosely related lol.

The Playroom

I love having a room dedicated just for the boys' toys. It's so nice to have them mostly stay in one area, though some do migrate upstairs once in a while. It's really nice that it is downstairs so I don't have to worry about guests seeing the mess and the boys' bedrooms stay cleaner as well as there aren't toys in there to distract the boys at bedtime.

A week or two ago I bought some new toy bins for the boys' toys. I even printed out pictures and put them on the bins so the boys know which toys go in each bin. I think I had more fun organizing toys than the boys lol. They thought the pictures were cool, but they'd rather look at the pictures than put toys in the bins. :) Doesn't that look nice?

But the boys seem to think the toys look much better dumped all over the floor instead of put away nicely. We can spend an hour cleaning up the playroom, and within 5 minutes every toy is back on the floor. I'm not sure why I even try anymore lol. I guess it just makes me feel good when it actually looks like this:

Friday's Feast

Appetizer

What is the nearest big city to your home?

- Salt Lake City, UT

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?

- Well, I don't really get told many secrets actually, but I would guess around 8-9.

Salad

Describe your hair (color, texture, length).

- Blonde/brown, normal, long

Main Course

What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?

- I follow the rules. Most of the time.

Dessert

When was the last time you had a really bad week?

- I usually don't have a whole bad week, just bad days here and there. There was some bad weeks about 3 years ago that were very stressful, but I don't want to get into it.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that I figured out why my vacuum wasn't working well the other day. I thought maybe it was giving out (cheapy we've had almost 5 yrs) but it turns out Jakey had just shoved a sponge inside it lol. So it still works fine (though an excuse to buy a Dyson would be nice lol) which is good because I had to vacuum up a whole shaker full of pepper that Jason dumped on the floor today. I am thankful for chocolate too, I just finished a Snickers creamy egg leftover from Easter and it was just what I needed to calm down from the pepper incident. Which reminds me of a funny story that still makes me laugh. I'm thankful for funny stories like this pepper story that make life more memorable. Yes, Dawn, a year later and it's still hilarious :D

What are you thankful for?

The Story of Us

I saw this on my friend Alicia's blog and thought it looked like a fun way to procrastinate the cleaning I should be doing :D

PhotobucketHow did you meet:
Nate was my college roommate's sister's boyfriend's roommate. Make sense? Yeah, most people don't follow that lol. Anyway they all knew each other from living in Rexburg, Idaho. The first day we moved into our dorm, my roommate called Nate over to help her set up her computer since he was a computer science major. I answered the door in ugly PJs and my hair in a ponytail. Not really an attractive look I thought, but evidently he thought different. I didn't pay him much mind at first, but after he left my roommate came out and told me he thought I was cute, so she gave him our number. Over the next few weeks he kept losing our number and she kept giving it to him. Finally one day in October I was bored so I decided to go to his work (Wendy's) and see if he was there. Through a coincidence he actually came out to dump garbages just as I'd sat down to eat. He was so shocked to see me there. He came over and we talked and I told him "I thought you were going to call and ask me out" lol. (No, I am not always that forward.) He explained about losing our number again, so we went ahead and set up a date for the next Thursday. Our first date we went to a little restaurant called The Bluebird as well as to a haunted corn maze and a haunted straw maze (plus with the cold and me only having on a thin jacket, it was a nice excuse to cuddle closer lol). Right from the start I was so comfortable with him. We could talk about anything. I admit I didn't think he was the most attractive guy at first, I thought he was funny looking, but he grew on me :) 4 months later we were engaged, and 9 months after we started dating we were married.

Who eats more:
I was going to say him, but I think all together I might eat more because I eat more frequently and he never eats breakfast. But at a single meal he eats more.

Who said I love you first:
I wrote "Love, Kara" in an email for the first time. I don't know who actually said the words first.

Who is taller:
He's taller by a few inches, I'm 5'5".

Who sings better:
Me. When we were first together he wouldn't even sing during church, but now he does.

Who is Smarter:
I would say him, though I don't think I'm dumb :)

Who does the Laundry:
Me, and I hate laundry

Who does the dishes:
Mostly me, but he will about once a week if I ask. He also does a better job than me lol, I just throw it all in the dishwasher and if it doesn't get clean the first time I run it again. He actually scrubs stuff and wipes down all the counters and handwashes pans and stuff.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed:
Depends on how you look at it. From the point of view of laying in the bed it's him. I'm a bit neurotic about it, I have to sleep on the left side, unless it's against a wall, then I sleep on whatever side is not by the wall lol.

Who pays the bills:
Usually me. He keeps track of the money, I keep track of paying the bills and just tell him when, how much, and who. Works pretty good for us.

Who mows the Lawn:
Him. He likes yard work, I hate machines that can chop me up, so it's the best for us lol

Who cooks dinner:
Mostly me, he rarely does, but helps out sometimes. I used to really hate it and not cook much, but now I have a 4wk rotating menu that is simple and makes it easy to shop and make meals.

Who drives when you are together:
Him. I don't really like to drive.

Who is more stubborn:
Definitely me

Who kissed who first:
He kissed me. Funny story too. Our 3rd date we were standing in my dorm saying goodnight and he asked if he could kiss me. I had never been kissed before and was extremely nervous so I told him I would close my eyes and he could kiss me. It was short and not very good. I remember thinking "that's it? ew" But after a while kissing got better.

PhotobucketWho proposed:
He did. February 24th at 2am. We were talking after getting off work (We both worked at Wendy's by then and they close late) and he suddenly said he had something to tell me. He said he was moving and I said "What?! Where?" He explained that because his roommate was getting married he needed to find a new apartment. And he wanted to find a new roommate who he already knew and liked. Then I started realizing where he was going with this and started grinning. He took my right hand and asked "Kara, will you marry me?" And I said "Really?! Yes!" We stayed up late giggling and making plans. A few months later when he bought a ring he took me to the field where the corn maze had been where we had our first date, and got down on one knee and proposed again.

Who is more sensitive:
I think we both are about the same

Who has more siblings:
Me. He has 4 and I grew up with 7, but also had an older brother and sister who were adopted and married before I was born, and so I don't really know them as well, and now my parents take in foster kids and have guardianship of my cousin's daughter who is like a sister.

Who wears the pants:
We both make decisions and stuff together.

I'm not tagging anyone, cuz I've been such a slacker with doing meme's I'm tagged for, but if you do it let me know!

Making appointments

One of the things I need to do today is call and make some appointments. I need to call my old family doctor and see if he will see Jakey for his 2 year appointment (my baby is almost 2!), call the chiropractor for Hubby and me (need to make sure he's covered by our insurance first), and call around for a family dentist and get appointments for Hubby, me, and Jason. Jason has 2 cavities in his top front teeth and I feel so bad I haven't gotten it taken care of yet. I was brushing and flossing his teeth this morning and when I flossed between those teeth he kept flinching and saying ouch :( So hopefully they can get us in soon. It will be nice to get in to the chiropractor, I haven't gone in over a year and my neck keeps getting out of place. So far I've been using drug treatment of Tylenol whenever it gets bad, but I don't want to do that all the time since I'm pregnant, so I hope this will really help my headaches. Guess I better get those calls made before I forget again!

Way too big

A few days ago Hubby sent me an email about a guy's $20million home that had gone into foreclosure and it had pictures of the house. Oh my gosh, that house was huge! It had a ballroom (maybe 2? I can't remember), game room with pool tables and stuff, bar, ice cream parlor (so jealous of that! lol), theater room with theater rope and seating and everything, two master closets the size of bedrooms, a huge master bath, jacuzzi and sauna rooms, and so much more. And it was on about 9 acres of land with completely landscaped gardens and stuff. I can't even imagine the mortgage payment on a house that big! I think the power bill alone would be as much as our house payment lol. No wonder it got foreclosed on! Even if I had the money I don't think I'd want a house that big, you wouldn't even use most of the rooms. And it would take hours to search the house if I needed to find the kids for something lol. My house is 2800 sq ft and that's more than I can take care of most days. The ballroom alone in that big house is bigger than my whole home. Who really needs that much space?

Past my bedtime

Every day I tell myself I am going to try to get to bed around 9pm because I'm always so tired. But everyday 10pm rolls around before I know it. I just realized that I think Hubby went to bed without me. Normally he's up watching TV long after I head to bed. In fact he usually just ends up falling asleep on the couch and never makes it up to bed, silly man. It's just so hard for me to make myself go to bed earlier, because the boys get put in bed at 8pm but by the time they actually settle down and fall asleep it's almost 9 and I just want a little bit of peace and quiet time lol. Anyway, I better head to bed I guess :)

Being cute

I really wish I could get Jason to nap more often. It's getting harder and harder to make him nap, but I really really need a nap myself most days but can't because he won't. :P Today I tried to get him to nap, and I laid on my bed for about an hour listening to him get into things, make noise, go up and down the stairs, etc. Everytime I was almost asleep I'd have to wake up to tell him to be quiet so he wouldn't wake up Jakey (which miraculously he didn't). I'm tempted to just lock him in his room so at least I won't have to worry about what he's doing while I nap lol, but I don't do that, we all know 3 year olds can do a lot of damage when left alone too long!

Good thing he is being so cute today. While I was trying to nap he occasionally called "I love you mom!" to me, and he's been spending a lot of time fixing his "house" (a big box my glider came in) with his play tools and building a window in it lol. Jakey also has a "house", the box the new oven came in, and Jason has been helping him fix his house too. They are being so adorable, I haven't even really lost my temper today, though I did get a little frustrated while cleaning the playroom earlier, but they were actually better at helping clean it up today. Aren't they cute? :)

Short Naps

I really hate when the boys' naps get interrupted. Today I had to take Hubby his golf clubs at work because he's going golfing afterwards. Both boys fell asleep in the car, and woke up once we got home. So they didn't nap as long as usual, but because they got a little sleep they won't go back to sleep. And I didn't even get to enjoy the short nap because I was driving. I'm going to try one more time to get them to go back to sleep. I just need a little bit of quiet so I can rest for a bit and maybe get some cleaning done.

Heads or Tails: Any Tom, Dick Or Harry

Today's Heads or Tails word is Heads- Any Tom, Dick Or Harry.

So I don't think I know many people named Tom, Dick Or Harry. They don't seem like very popular names. In fact I am having a hard time thinking of someone I know in real life named Tom, Dick Or Harry. Let's see if I can think of one person I actually know for each name.

Tom- I really can't think of anyone I know right now. I think the last Tom I knew was a guy in high school.

Dick- Nope, nobody at all.

Harry- No, and the only Harry coming to mind is Harry Potter lol.

So, there you have it. I don't know Any Tom, Dick Or Harry. :)

Zero Dollars

I love getting what I call "Good Mail". Stuff in this category includes greeting cards, money, free samples, bills that say I owe nothing, and thing like that. Yesterday I got a piece of "good mail". It was from my OB's office explaining what they charge and what I owe. Why is this "good mail" you ask? Because out of the $2358.00 they charge for a normal delivery I have to pay...$0! Yep, we have awesome maternity insurance. We do have to pay a $15 copay for the first visit, but that's it. Our insurance covers all the doctor services, which I believe also covers clinical laboratory service like ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc. I still have to pay a portion of the hospital charges as well, but not having to worry about the OB charges is nice.

In other news...

I am watching the news on CNN and there was a crazy story on. A guy was on a Jet Blue flight from New York to Los Angeles and the pilot forced him to sit in the bathroom the whole flight! He was told to give up his seat to a flight attendant because she was uncomfortable in her jump seat. He is of course suing the airline now. I would too, that is so unfair! If someone pays for a seat they shouldn't be forced to sit in the bathroom.

I also heard a news story that sales of trucks and other gas hogs has gone way down and sales of compact cars and hybrids is going up. We all know why this is, nobody want to pay $100 to fill up their car these days! The story also said it's funny that they choose to buy cars that won't use as much gas, but the people still pay extra for GPS, sunroofs, etc. So they are saving on gas, but that money is just going towards paying more for the car lol.

I need to turn off the news now, it's all the same death and destruction over and over and it's depressing. Every day there is news of floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, cyclones, fires, and more. This past week especially the world seems to have been hit hard. It's so sad.

HD Gaming

When the Nintendo Wii first came out my Hubby bought about 5 of the their component HDMI cable things, and sold them on Ebay for a profit because they were very much on demand. Now we have a Wii, but not one of those cables lol. As great as it is to play games on our 50" plasma, I've heard those cables make it even better. I bet it would be nice for when we have 4 players and the screen is split into 4 small screens, then maybe they would be easier to see.

Tuesday To-Do

Here is my to-do list today:

* Don't lose temper (I must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, grumpy grumpy)

* Eat, I am starving today but nothing sounds good, at least nothing I have here lol (a Jr Bacon from Wendy's sounds really good! and have you tried their new frosty shakes? mmm)

* Dishes, like always, they never end

* Clean family room and living room, and vacuum both

* Sweep/mop kitchen, I don't understand how that floor gets so dirty. Oh wait, yes I do, it's called kids!

Oh dang it, I just realized I had library movies due back yesterday! Shoot! They are $1/day EACH when they are overdue, that's $5 I just threw away! Arg!!! Guess we will be taking a trip to the library today too. :P Ugh, that makes me so mad at myself.

Like the look?

So what do you think of my new look? I had lots of fun creating my new header and layout using some free digital scrapbooking stuff from www.shabbyprincess.com. They have some adorable scrapbook layouts over there so go check it out. I still cannot for the life of me figure out why there is the gap above my posts section. I've tried changing about everything in my code but that little space will not go away. So I guess I'll just continue to live with it, hopefully it doesn't bug everyone else as much as it bugs me lol.

Menu Plan Monday

Wow, the weeks seem to be really flying by! I use a 4wk rotating menu and it feels like I just did this week's lol. Here is what we are having this week:

Tuesday- Garlic Chicken

Thursday- Spaghetti

Friday- Ward Party, need to bring a main dish, but don't know what yet

Saturday- Hamburgers

Sunday- BBQ Ribs

Broken Nunchuk

On Saturday Jakey dunked our Wii nunchuk in the toilet. It still works, but not normally. It wants to always go left and barely moves right, which is not good for steering anything. Grr. I looked online to find the best buy for a new one, but they are all around $20 no matter where I buy it. I might just have to deal with it being broken. We really don't use it too much since we mostly play Mario Kart and don't need it for that, but I borrowed Zelda from my little sister and need it to control that. It gets really annoying having to go left to make a right turn :P

My Mother's Day Gift

This is what my wonderful Hubby got me for Mother's Day. :) A new glider recliner. This is very special because my very first Mother's Day when I was pregnant with Jason he bought me one just like this, but a few years ago we ended up selling it when things got tight. He always felt horrible that we had to sell it because it was a gift for me. So he was so excited and happy to get me this new one and I love it, mostly because of the thought he put into it. He's so sweet! And he was so happy I'd have it to rock the baby in and relax in. It's all set up in the nursery (Jakey's room right now), though I might move it to my room for now to keep the kids from ruining it. :)
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Remember to thank the special moms in your life. And a very special hug for all the women out there who are struggling to become mothers. :)

I woke up to white roses from Hubby and I know he got me something else, but I don't know what it is yet. :) I feel blessed to have my two little boys and another baby on the way, being a mother is what I've always wanted. Some days are tough and I lose my patience more than I should, but I would never change it for anything. My kids (and Hubby) are my life.

So I hope all of you Mother's out there have a wonderful day and get some pampering!

The Belly

PhotobucketK, I told Michelle that I'd post a belly pic so here goes. I really don't like pics of myself, I don't think I'm photogenic, and yesterday I was exhausted and grumpy, so it could've been better. So I hope I don't scare anyone away :D

Most of my regular clothes still fit, but a few pair of pants are uncomfortable to button. I've also gotten out some of my maternity shirts, but that's mostly because I don't have many shirts to begin with so getting them out gives me a few more choices lol.

In the morning I don't look that big, but by night I look like I should be eating diet pills instead of my almost-nightly cup of pudding lol. I'm hoping I actually look pregnant and not just pudgy.

Can you guess?

So, who can guess what Jakey is covered in this time?
Photobucket

So, because hardly anybody comments and of the few comments I get I don't think anyone will guess correctly, I'm just going to tell you lol.

Sunblock.

Yep, I walked into the living room a few days ago and saw that Jason had been dumping sunblock on Jakey. Who was loving it. Seriously. They thought they were so funny. I did not. But I still had to get a pic lol. Of course I had to throw them in the tub first so they wouldn't get it anywhere else. I had to vigorously scrub his head twice with lots of shampoo to get it all out of his hair.

I guess it's not good discipline when I tell them to look up and say cheese right after telling them not to do something lol.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that I don't have anywhere to go. We were busier this week than normal so it's nice to have a day where I have nowhere to go and nothing to do. I'm thankful for the nice weather we've had that allows us to get out more and it has been nice for the boys to play outside more. Right now it's mid 60s and I'm going to get the boys outside to play while I work on the garden. What a gorgeous sunny day!

What are you thankful for?

Relaxing day

Finally a day where I have nothing planned :) Monday and Tuesday we were out of the house most of the day running errands and going to the park. Yesterday I did a lot of cleaning then went to a Partylite party at my friend Heather's. That was fun to get out with adults and a nice break. But today there is nothing planned. I'll probably finish up the last of the laundry (just a few loads of blankets) and vacuum. Hubby was so sweet and helped clean up the boys' rooms while I was out last night. It's supposed to be in the 60s today so I'm thinking later this afternoon we will go outside and I can finish cleaning up the garden bed. I still need to rake up all the wood chips and junk and dig out a few saplings. Then I can start preparing the soil so I can plant in a few weeks. I'll be so happy if I can actually get something to grow this year lol. The strawberry plants are already looking better since we've had nice weather and I got the weeds out of the way. Mmm, fresh strawberries will be nice!

LOL, Jakey is sitting on the coffee table breaking Doritos into my cereal bowl that has a little milk, then eating it like cereal :P Silly kid. I need throw him in the shower, he stinks! Amazingly it's 7:45 and Jason is still sleeping. I hope he gets up soon because Hubby forgot to put a diaper on him last night, and I don't want him peeing the bed.

Neverending

Why is it that laundry just never gets finished? I don't mind the washing cuz the machines do that, but I hate folding and putting away the clean clothes. They pile up faster than I get them taken care of. Today I am working on getting ALL the laundry done AND put away. I'm tired. At least the washer and dryer aren't in the basement like our old house, so there aren't as many stairs to go up and down. And I'm trying to decide what to do with the boys clothes. At our old house we had their clothes in our closet because if they were in their room they would throw them all over. Now I could do it that way again, but I don't want to drag their dresser into our closet. I know they will continuously make a mess with them if they are in their room, but I don't want them in mine lol, so I'm undecided. Right now they are unfolded in separate baskets in my room, waiting for my decision. (They are unfolded cuz if I leave a folded basket of clothes sitting out it attracts the pests kids and it is quickly dumped all over.) I am actually doing pretty good so far, got about 4 loads taken care of and some going in the washer and dryer. Then I think 3 loads left- towels, whites, blankets- and I should be done. I'm also working on my 3rd load of dishes. Have I told you before that I have seriously considered going strictly with paper plates and plastic ware? Cuz I think taking out more garbage would be much easier than keeping up with the multiplying dishes. But then the tiny little environmentalist inside kicks me and tells me I would be a horrible person to do that, and the tiny rational mother in me kicks me again and tells me that is just plain lazy. Plus I'd still have pans and cooking utensils so it wouldn't save me from all dishes.

OK, I need to stop procrastinating and finish that load of dishes.

Catching Up

This morning we went to the park to meet up with my friend Heather and her boys. I hadn't seen her for 3.5 years so it was so great to catch up and have our boys play. Her older boy is just a few months older than Jason and her younger boy is just a month younger than Jakey. It's fun to have them close in age and they all had fun playing while we chatted. I'm going to a candle party at Heather's tomorrow. I love having a chance to catch up with old friends :)

Pics of my baby!

So, today I had my first prenatal appointment and overall it went well. The only complaint I have is that there was too much waiting. My appointment was at 1:30 and I got there a little after 1 to fill out all the paperwork. They got me back for the usual stuff like blood pressure and weight on time, then I sat and waited for my OB until 2:15. Luckily I loved her, she was so nice and great with the boys. She blew up rubber gloves and drew faces on them for the boys. The exam and all went well and she seems just fine with VBAC. We went weren't able to find the heartbeat with the doppler so she sent me to get my bloodwork and for an ultrasound. The lady doing the bloodwork was on the phone and I waited at least 10 minutes with my fussy kids. Jakey's diaper was leaking cuz he needed changed and I had left the diaper bag in the car and Jason was past the point of listening to me. Finally got my blood sucked out and went down to the ultrasound room. The only place I didn't have to wait lol. They got me right in and I finally got to see my little baby! Heart was beating at a wonderful 167 bpm and measuring a few days past when I calculate I am. They have me due from Nov 11 (LMP) to 14 (u/s) but I know by when I conceived that my edd is really the 16th, but evidently that doesn't matter lol. I eventually got to leave around 3:20. Definitely not bringing the boys with me next time, and hopefully since my next appointment is in the morning and just routine stuff it will go a little faster. Anyway, so things went good, I saw my baby, the OB was great, and I go back in 4 weeks. That's about it!

Monday Madness

Wow, we've been busy today! This morning we went to the dollar store to pick up some picture frames and baskets for the boys' toys. Then we stopped and visited my mom and sister for a little bit. After that we went to the library and got some movies and books. We came home and packed a little lunch and headed to the park. We stayed for an hour. I would have liked to let the boys play longer but it was hot and wearing me down. At least this time I remembered sunscreen so hopefully none of us are burnt. I am so exhausted. I didn't get to sleep until after midnight last night because I had to wait for my bedding to get clean cuz the boys spilled something on my sheets. I have a hard time staying up til 10 so being up that late was torture. I just put the boys down for a nap so as soon as they are asleep I'm going to lay down.

Menu Plan Monday

It's Monday again! I don't know how the last week went by so quickly. I was going to look on my Menu Plan Monday post to see what we are having for dinner tonight, then realized that it was actually Monday and I haven't put it up for this week lol. So here is what we are having this week:

Monday- BBQ Chicken

Tuesday- Pancakes

Wednesday- Pizza

Thursday- Grilled Cheese Sandwiches w/Soup

Friday- Leftovers

Saturday- Hamburgers

Sunday- Turkey

Sunday Saying

Better to hunt in fields for health unbought
Than fee the doctor for a nauseous draught.
The wise for cure on exercise depend;
God never made his work for man to mend.

- John Dryden

This reminds me of the saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" by Ben Franklin. I also just had to look up this quote by Thomas Edison that my old chiropractor had in his office: "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." Basically, it is better to eat right and exercise to be healthy than it is to have to pay to fix whatever comes from not being healthy. I totally agree. Of course there are people who eat very well and exercise a lot that still get sicknesses, but I'd say that overall they are healthier than those who eat junk and never exercise. I admit I don't eat as well as I should and I rarely exercise, and that's probably part of the reason I don't sleep well and feel tired all the time. I really want to start doing my yoga DVD for at least a little bit of exercise, I bet my body would feel a lot less sore and tired if I did.

What are your thoughts on this?

Trucks

One of these days Hubby wants to get a truck. He really likes the Toyota Tundra. I like trucks too, but I'm willing to be patient and get one when we have the money. Our car will be paid off this year and I know Hubby is going to really be pushing for a truck after that. It must be a guy thing. Yesterday we noticed tons of guys in pimped out cars and trucks. There were things like custom Chevy grills and cool paint jobs. Then there was this one car (or truck, I can't remember) that had been lowered so that it was only a few inches off the ground. Now, that I just don't get. Hubby hated it too. The guy's back bumper was torn off, obviously because every time he would go over a tiny bump or dip, the bottom of the car would grind against the pavement. Wonder what that guy was thinking having that done. Jason loves to see trucks that have been lifted and have huge tires, he yells "Monster truck!" So cute. When we finally get a truck we definitely need one with a second row big enough to put a carseat cuz Jason would love to go for a ride.

Memory loss

Yesterday when we went shopping and had to keep asking Hubby what we were shopping for. When I am pregnant my memory is so bad! I would tell Hubby, "I wanted to look for a window well cover," (at Lowes) and then two minutes later we'd be walking down the isle and I'd ask "Wait, what are we looking for?" I swear I did this 3-4 times while shopping yesterday. It's bad when I don't have him around to remind me what I was doing lol, then I might walk into a room to get something and just stand there confused, and finally give up and go back to doing something else. During the day I instant message with him while he's at work and I'm constantly telling him to remind me to do "such-and-such" later. I'm glad he's been pretty good at taking over my memory for me lol. It was so bad when I was pregnant with Jakey, I would forget the same thing over and over after just a few minutes. Makes Hubby laugh.

Naptime Drama

The boys are driving us nuts! We finally got them to sleep after fighting with them to stay in bed for over 2 hours! Jakey finally fell asleep then Jason woke him up. Jason kept going in Jakey's room, I finally put two baby gates on his door to keep him in so he couldn't just climb over one (I would just shut and lock the door but he freaks out if it's closed). And Jakey was slamming his door against the wall which made one of Jason's pictures fall down and the glass shattered. Good thing I was planning to get new picture frames for his pictures anyway, cuz that's 2 of 4 that have broken. It's funny how upset about it he got though lol, he was crying and I found him kneeling over the broken pieces saying "My picture, my picture!". I'm going to go to the dollar store and get matching frames for his pictures so at least they will match now. I also thought I had a few more pictures to add to it, but I don't know if they got misplaced or thrown away during the move. Oh, just asked Hubby and he said to check the garage. :)

Junk

I think everyone I have ever known has a "junk drawer" in their home. In many cases, more than one drawer lol. We have one (or two, or three) and I have no idea what we keep all that stuff for. We have a bag of broken pencils, Papermate pens that have run dry, a bits of crayon. There's random screws, nails, rubber bands, paper clips, and miscellaneous parts to things we probably don't have any more. You'd think I'd just throw it all away but I know there are a few things we need in there, we just can't find them lol.

Camera Critters

Wow, is it already Sunday?! I swear this week went by way too quick. It seems like just a few days ago that I posted for this meme lol. Anyway, on to my pic for today:

This is one of the kittens that our cat Stars had last year, held by Jakey. We called him Junior (Jason named him Colors, but since his dad was Colors we just called him Junior). He was my favorite. He was always the biggest of the kittens and he was so furry and fun. I was so sad when we let him go. I hope he was taken in by a good family.

Join in Camera Critters every Sunday!

Spare Gold

A few weeks ago a lady on a messageboard I go to was telling us about her experience using that company where you send in your old gold chain, necklaces, earrings, rings, etc and they give you money for it. Sounds good, but I don't think I have much scrap gold just laying around my house lol. Or at least not real gold :D But it does sound like a good idea if you do have some random gold you want to get rid of for some quick cash.

Celeb Gossip

So I was checking out my favorite celebrity gossip website the other day and I noticed something that was interesting. There are tons of articles on who is marrying who, who is getting divorced, babies, pregnancy rumors, jail, etc. But the one item I've noticed missing lately is all the stories of celebs in drug rehab. I don't know why I haven't seen as many stories about it lately. It seemed like a few months ago that was all we were seeing with Lindsay, Brittney, and almost every celeb. So either they have all cleaned up or just haven't gotten in trouble for a while. I'd guess the latter.

Mushy Banana

You know what is a gross yucky feeling? Stepping in mushy banana on the carpet. Ew! I don't know why my kids can't finish that last bit of banana and insist that it belongs on the floor. And every single time they do it, I step in it. Today Jason actually stepped in some before me so he got a taste of his own medicine lol. He was going "Ew, yucky! Yucky, Mom! Get it off!" It was hilarious (because it didn't happen to me). :) But there's still a darker spot on my carpet from it. And there's some unknown light stain on the carpet by our front door, no idea where it came from. I really wish I had something like Ladybug steam cleaners to spot clean once in a while.

Just watching TV

I'm just sitting here watching TLC shows like What Not To Wear and 10 Years Younger. I swear when they have these shows on there are more commercials for beauty products, teeth whitening stuff, Anoretix reviews, and stuff. And when I watch shows like Baby Story and Runway Moms there are more commercials for baby products and pregnancy related things. I'm sure this is to target that audience who watches these shows lol. Ugh, just watched a lady get botox, owie! Just getting poked with that tiny needle all around their faces makes me cringe. Don't think I ever want to do that lol.

Almost Mother's Day

PhotobucketThis is one of my favorite pictures from my pregnancy with Jakey. It was taken just a few days before he was born and Jason had just barely started to understand about me having a baby. He would come up and kiss my belly and say "Baby!". This picture brings to mind all the feelings of motherhood for me. The joy of pregnany, excitement to meet the new baby, anxiety for the birth, fear that I wouldn't be able to handle 2 kids, love for Jason, sadness that Jason wasn't going to be my only little baby anymore, exhausted, worried, hopeful, happy, and so many more emotions that describe being a mother.

I'm excited that Mother's Day is coming up soon! I love celebrating the fact that I have two wonderful little boys and another little blessing on the way. I can't imagine life without my children.

Have you checked out the Mother's Day Giveaway at 5 Minutes for Mom yet? They are giving away some great prizes. You have until May 9th to enter, so go check it out!

Friday's Feast

Appetizer

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child?

- Hm, I'm not sure about when I was really young, as a teenager I like DragonballZ

Soup

Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it?

- A puppy. We already have 3 cats so next I want a dog, though not quite yet, when Jason is older I want to get him one. Probably a lab/retriever mix. I would let Jason name it :)

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?

- 7, I like looking nice, I don't like the work it takes.

Main Course

What kind of music do you listen to while you drive?

- Mostly country.

Dessert

When was the last time you bought a clock? And in which room did you put it?

- Hm, must have been at least 3 years ago and who knows what room it was put in. We probably bought 2-3 at a time at the thrift store to help furnish the house, and because we like clocks lol.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that we are having a pretty good day. We went to Hubby's work earlier to bring him his glasses because his contacts were hurting him. We got to see some of the building, they have a huge break room and we got some free pop lol. The boys enjoyed the little outing. We've decided we are going back over to join him at lunchtime, we are going to Subway. Just a few more points and we can get 2 free footlongs lol.

What are you thankful for?
