2 months

Nathan had his 2 month checkup today. The doctor said he seems to be doing perfectly. Nathan was all smiles for him. He had to get 3 shots, and I swear the nurse was the slowest nurse we've had do shots, usually they try to get them all done quickly but she took her time with each one. Poor little guy was crying so much. He weighs 12lbs 14.5oz and is 25in long. No wonder he grew out of his 0-3 month close so quickly, he's the length of an average 5 month old now! I love my smiley little baby, he is just so cute and fun!

Monday Madness

Well, it's only Monday and I am so ready for the week to be over lol. Today I started babysitting a little 6 month old boy. I'll be watching him 3-4 days a week. It's a family I go to church with and they just adopted this little boy and saw that I was looking for a kid to watch.I'm not sure what I was thinking. Taking care of 2 babies is hard! Little D is a good baby most of the time, I think he's just not used to us so we had a bit of a tiring day, he wouldn't take a nap until 4 even though I could tell he was tired. It should get easier as he gets more used to us. I'm just so glad I've never had twins lol, at least at the end of the day I can send 1 baby home!

I wanted to clean my sister's bathroom today. She moved out this past weekend (I'm so sad!) so we have the bathroom back and it needs scrubbed. I also wanted to get laundry put away and do a load of dishes. But I just have not had the time, at least one kid has needed me at all times, even Jakey was giving me a hard time at naptime. So, now that Little D is still asleep and I've fed Nathan and the other 2 are watching Wall-E, again, I can get dinner started. Looks like we will be eating late again tonight.

I have a pretty busy week ahead too, so don't be surprised if I don't post much. I have to go to the orthodontist tomorrow (4hr round trip), dentist Wednesday for another filling (stupid teeth!), playdate on Thursday hopefully, and Nathan's 2 month checkup Friday morning, plus I have Little D some of those days. I'm afraid to think of what my house will look like at the end of this week!

Early to bed, late to rise

Guess what time it is? Bedtime! Yep, it's only 9 but I am heading to bed. That is pretty early for me, but I'm just so tired so I need to try to get some more sleep. Hopefully Nathan sleeps good for me tonight. He sleeps much better than Jakey did as a baby so I am thankful for that. I even sometimes get 4-5 straight hours of sleep.

And it's the weekend, I might even get to sleep in a little! The boys tend to sleep later when nobody gets up early for work or anything, and then they usually go downstairs and play where Hubby can keep an eye on them from the couch. So hopefully I'll feel more rested tomorrow.

Healthy living

One of my favorite reality shows is The Biggest Loser. I think it's amazing how much diet and exercise can affect a person's life. Most people want to just take a pill to lose weight, but even the best diet pills will tell you that the best results come when they are combined with diet and exercise. On this week's BL they showed a few of the guys that had to be on 8-10 medicines for various heart diseases, diabetes, and other issues, and after just 3 weeks of the diet and exercise changes on the show they did not need the medicines anymore. That is truly amazing.

The cutest

My baby is 10 weeks old already. He is such a smiley little guy now. The last few days he has been so happy and adorable. He still has fussy times (like right now, daddy is trying to get him settled down) but he has lots more happy times than before. He still eats ALL the time (13 lbs now!) and prefers to be held when he's not sleeping. Good thing he is so cuddly and cute. Some days I know I should clean something but he'll fall asleep in my arms and I don't want to put him down cuz he looks so peaceful and sweet, so I sit and just enjoy it.

Bribery

I swear my children have selective hearing. I've been trying to get them to help clean up the family room for the last hour. They pick up one thing then just ignore me until I threaten to ground them or bribe them with cookies. Right now they are actually cleaning slowly, let's see how long that lasts. While they work on that I'm going to go get started on those cookies I bribed them with :D I think we have a double chocolate chunk mix, mmm! Of course, that's only as long as Nathan will be happy in the exersaucer, need him to cooperate for me to get anything done.

Watching TV on my time

I love my DVR. I record my favorite shows that I don't get to watch at their normal times, like Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Then I can watch them when I have time, like mornings when I have nothing to do but hold the baby. I also have a bunch of movies I enjoy recorded, like some musicals and a few kid movies. This morning I finally got around to watching this weeks BL and EMHE. The best part is getting to fast-forward through all the commercials so it doesn't take as long to watch them.

So, I keep thinking there was something I was going to post about, but I always forget. I'm not sure what it could be, but maybe it'll come to me eventually. Until then I will just ramble on.

Tuesday To-Do

OK, I need to get up and do something. Pretty normal to-do list today:

* Dishes
* Laundry
* Clean up family room
* Vacuum
* Update boys' 365 blogs

Of course, I'd much rather take a nap lol, but since that won't happen I really should do something productive. First I'm going to get the boys' blogs caught up since I've missed a few days there, then I'm going to start on the dishes.

Suppressing my sweet tooth

So last week I was complaining that I hadn't lost any more of my baby weight since having Nathan. Well, I decided that I really needed to stop eating so much candy. We have a little bucket that we put candy in and I would sit here and munch on it all day. No wonder I wasn't losing anything! So last week I finally told Hubby to take it to work with him so I could stop eating it. He did and in just that week I have lost 2 pounds. No need to find the best diet pills or get a gym membership, I just needed to stop eating so much junk. :) Of course I would still like to start exercising too (if I ever find the time or energy) so I can get some muscle back.

Monday Madness

Wow, I haven't posted for almost a week! I don't know how the last week has passed so quickly. And now I can't even remember what I was going to post about. Don't you hate that? I was thinking of it earlier but now I just have no idea what I was going to say. Probably cuz it's after 10:30pm and I really should be in bed. I haven't even been updating my boys' 365 blogs, though I have the pictures, just haven't uploaded them and posted. I will try to post something tomorrow.

Tuesday To-Do

I'm not feeling very motivated today, but I'm still trying to get some stuff done:

* Dishes
* Laundry
* Clean playroom
* Clean boys' rooms
* Sweep kitchen

I have swept the kitchen, done a load of dishes and washed and folded a few loads of laundry, so that's a start. I need to do one more load of dishes, and 2 more loads of laundry then those will be done. I also started cleaning up in the playroom, but it's not finished yet. Hard to ever finish it since the boys just go back down there and throw everything back on the floor lol.

I really just don't have much motivation to clean though. I get little spurts of energy which is how I've been able to get what I have done. Right now the boys are watching a movie and the baby is asleep in the swing, so I really should be using this time to get housework done.

Lagging

Our desktop computer has had problems for a while now, which is why I hardly ever use it, but now our laptop is having problems. Every few seconds it lags for a bit, just pauses for no reason. I don't know if it's a problem with the computer memory or a virus or what, but it's pretty annoying. Especially when I'm typing and I can get out a whole sentence before it catches up. I won a PC tune up from a blog giveaway but haven't been able to get it yet, hopefully when I do I can get the laptop running right again.

Not coming off

I've felt a little down that I haven't lost any more weight since having the baby. I lost about 22lbs right after he was born, but haven't lost any more. Luckily it's not enough to need Fenterdren or something, but I would like to lose just a few more pounds. I really wish it weren't winter so I could go jogging or at least for a walk once in a while. Hopefully when the weather warms up I can get out and get in shape.

Who needs a theater?

Last month we discovered that we really love Redbox. We use free codes we find online so we've only had to pay a dollar once when we kept a movie an extra day. So we've been renting movies a lot more lately. It's been nice since we rarely get to go to the movie theater so we haven't been seeing as many new releases. But now we've been getting caught up on movies I've wanted to see. Now if only I had home theater seating to complete the experience.

Sunday Saying

"A pessimist is a person who has had to listen to too many optimists."
- Don Marquis

I always joke that I am an optimist and Hubby is a pessimist. I think we balance each other out most of the time. I always believe things will work out, and he works hard to make it so. Good thing I have him around to keep my optimistic expectations in reality.

The best tub ever

One of the best things about my midwife's birth suite was the large soft tub. I'd never heard of a soft tub before but it was amazing, nice and comfy. It's soft because instead of a porcelain tub, it uses a sand-filled base. Plus she had a tankless water heater so there was never-ending hot water. I spent most of my time in that tub. Makes me want to get one like it for myself.

Cleanup

When we lived in Pocatello we often drove by this abandoned strip mall. I always wondered why it was sitting there not being used. It was in a nice central location and everything. One day I finally asked Hubby if he knew. Evidently it had a bunch of asbestos and it would cost so much to clean all that out that it wasn't worth it to any business to even try. And of course they can't just knock the whole building down without cleaning it out either, so it just sits there unused. You'd think the city would want to get it taken care of so they can have a business buy the property and make the city some money.

Useful gift

I love gift cards. I know lots of people don't like getting them for people because they think it shows a lack of thought for the gift, but I think they are great because then you can go buy something you really want or need. We got a couple WalMart gift cards for Christmas and they have come in handy for buying groceries and stuff. On one of them we had used up most of it but there was still 95 cents on it. I was just going to forget about that bit of change, but Hubby insisted we use it all up. It was kind of funny having the cashier at WalMart run it through for 95 cents, but at least we didn't waste it.

Holding

I hate being on hold. Well, I hate talking on the phone in the first place, and being on hold just prolongs the torture. I prefer any phone calls I make to be short and simple. I've been on the phone with Symantec for 15 minutes and half of that has been on hold. I hope they hurry cuz Nathan is going to want to eat soon and it's hard to get them the info they need and stuff while busy nursing and doing everything one-handed.

A sucker born every minute

It looks like I may have a thumb sucker this time. Neither of my other boys cared about sucking their thumbs, but the last few days Nathan has managed to find his thumb a few times. In one way this is nice because maybe he will eventually be able to use it to soothe himself, plus it is just so dang cute! But in another way I don't like it, because I know giving up thumb sucking is a lot harder than a pacifier- I know people in their teens who still suck their thumb- and I don't want it to affect his teeth later on. So I guess I just wait and see if he keeps it up.

No time

A little bit ago I was outside helping Hubby with something and he asked me what time it was. I had a funny thought (well, it was funny to me). We both can't stand not being able to see what time it is, we have clocks in every room of our house, but neither of us wears a watch. We both have watches, more than one, but we never wear them. I even really like our watches. They aren't nice Torgoen watches or anything, but they reflect our tastes well. I have an excuse though, I wear my watch on my left wrist (well, when I wear it at all) and that is the same arm I normally hold the baby in and I know he'd get scratched by it, so that is why I never wear mine. But I have no idea why Hubby doesn't wear his.

Whiney boys

I never got around to making a to-do list today. Jason and Jacob were being very whiney and driving me crazy. Luckily Nathan was great today. I do have a ton of stuff that I need to do, I just never get around to it. Like I need to get the 3-6 month clothes out for Nathan (yep, his 0-3 month stuff is getting small, and he's not even 2 months!). I also need to clean my bathroom (though I did get the downstairs bathroom cleaned today), mop the kitchen floor, go through one of my many junk drawers and clean out stuff I have no idea what we keep for like old papers, ball lock pins, broken pens, etc. And I need to do dishes and switch out the load of laundry in the washer so it doesn't get stinky (again, already had to rewash it after it sat there 2 days lol). I did get Jakey to bed early tonight because he was just so whiney. I'm going to try to get Jason to go to sleep earlier than normal too, he stayed up way too late last night.

Project 365

Some of you may have heard of Project 365. For those who haven't, this is a project where you take a picture of whatever you want every day for a year to watch the change and document the time passing. I've decided to join in by doing a Project 365 blog for each of my boys. I'm going to attempt to take a pic and post it of each of them every single day. (Now you won't have to keep bugging me for pics Nell! lol) It should be fun to look back on their pictures a year from now to see how they have changed. They won't just be pictures of them face on just posing, they will be pics taken at random of them during the day doing whatever they do. The links to their sites are in my right sidebar.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I can't believe how fast the last year went. We had so much going on that it just zoomed on. Exactly one year ago today Hubby accepted the job offer that got our year off to a busy start. We had 2 weeks to pack, get the house on the market, and move down to Utah. I did almost all of the packing myself since Hubby still had work, and I got it done in 1 week. We moved in with my parent's until we could sale our house and find a new one. My brother also came home from his mission a few days after we moved in so the house was packed. We had 14 people living in one house. Fortunately our old house sold pretty quickly, we accepted an offer on it just 3 weeks after putting it on the market. So we were able to go look for a new home and in 2 months we were in our nice big house here that we love.

Then I found out baby #3 was on it's way just days before we moved to our new house. On top of my nausea the whole family ended up getting bronchitis that first week in the house so we just lay around, miserable and half unpacked, until we got better. Besides being tired the pregnancy went well though, and the next few months passed quickly.

My little sister moved in with us in May, which has been great. She is almost 20 and it's been fun having her live here. I also started my first garden in May which helped the summer go by quickly. I didn't manage to grow much but it was a neat experience.

In June Jakey turned 2. He has grown and changed so much, it's sad how fast kids grow up. July brought my 5th wedding anniversary and Hubby's 28th birthday. The warm summer days went away all too quickly and in September Jason turned 4. Now, he has really grown up a lot in the last year. Getting so smart. He can write his name now! Granted, half the letters are backwards or upside down or sloppy, but you can read it lol.

Then we came to the holiday season. Halloween was a lot of fun and the boys enjoyed trick or treating this year (and I enjoyed the candy). I was getting huge and uncomfortable and so ready to be done being pregnant, so October and the first few weeks of November went by very slowly, probably the only time of the year that didn't seem to be flying by lol.

And then in November we were blessed with little Nathan. Although things did not go as planned we were so happy to finally have him with us. He has been so much fun and the boys love him to pieces. I am happy that my c-section recovery was not too bad this time and I have been able to take care of my kids without too much trouble.

Thanksgiving was spent with my side of the family which was a blast, and before I knew it Christmas was upon us. We went to my parent's on Christmas Eve, spent Christmas morning with just us at home, and then headed up to Idaho Christmas Day (I still haven't posted that adventure, I will, I promise!). I love the holidays with kids, it is so fun to see the excitement and happiness in their faces. Of course, Nathan is too little to care yet, but it was nice to have him their with us.

And so the year wound down to a close. It really went by faster than I can believe. Is it really 2009 already?! I managed to stay up until midnight last night to say goodbye to 2008. It was a good year, but so busy. I hope this year will be just as good, but maybe a little calmer. I hope to enjoy my children more, especially this newborn time with Nathan.

I hope you all have a wonderful year in 2009! May you be blessed with happiness and love.
